Cyber Essentials Certification

Situations is the First Guernsey Recruitment Agency to Obtain Cyber Essentials Certification

Situations Recruitment is delighted to announce that it is the first Guernsey recruitment agency to achieve the Cyber Essentials certification, proving that it operates high levels of cyber security and focuses strongly on GDPR and data protection, for the reassurance and benefit of both its candidates and clients.

The UK Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme focuses on the 5 most important technical security controls which were identified by the government as those that, if implemented, would have stopped the majority of the successful global cyber attacks over the last few years.  Those 5 controls are:

  • Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
  • Secure configuration
  • Access control
  • Malware protection
  • Patch management

To achieve the accreditation, Situations went through a self-assessment process against the 5 cyber security controls listed above and that information was then verified by an independent assessor, IASME Consortium, which is one of just five companies appointed as Accreditation Bodies for assessing and certifying against the UK government's Cyber Essentials Scheme.

Melissa Campbell, Joint MD, explained: “Here at Situations, we are committed to staying ahead of the game with cyber security and data protection in being the first local agency with this quality Cyber Essentials certification.  This means that our candidates and clients can trust that their data is secure and that we operate high levels of technical security and GDPR measures on a daily basis.”
Situations were assisted through this process by James Kelsh, Senior Information Security Consultant at Resolution IT, who said:  “As a Cyber Essentials certification body, we are able to take businesses such as Situations Recruitment through all the necessary processes to achieve a recognised cyber security certification. It’s a visible sign to businesses that you take your IT security seriously and is increasingly being requested by companies dealing with third party contractors. We worked with Situations to make sure they had the recommended systems and processes in place to allow them to become Cyber Essentials certified, which I’m delighted to say they now are.”
