Skills Testing

In addition to our many services, Situations can also offer our clients comprehensive skills and system testing of permanent job applicants, temps or contractors.

Finding the right staff with proven skills to add value to your organisation is all important. With an increase in the number of candidates applying for each position, proven testing of skills and systems can save precious time and immediately eliminate unsuitable applicants.

Here at Situations we can offer you a wide variety of comprehensive online system and business skills testing, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook from basic to advanced level) and a variety of other software (Lotus, Quark, Quickbooks, Adobe, etc) as well as Accounting/Bookkeeping, Maths/Numeracy, Spelling, English Language, Typing Tests, Legal Word Processing & Vocabulary, Telephone Etiquette and Data Entry, amongst many others.

Examples of skills tested in Microsoft Word (basic to advanced level) include tracking changes, cutting and pasting, numbering pages, sorting data, inserting a picture and use of macros. Examples of skills tested in Microsoft Excel (basic to advanced level) include editing cells, text wrap, print scaling, using the average and sum functions, inserting a chart and pasting a function, to name just a few.

The tests are managed and administered entirely by our office, are initially e-mailed by us direct to the candidate, are monitored by us throughout the process and the results forwarded straight on to you by a member of our team. The results will show you the type of skill tested, the level of skill in each case and the speed at which each particular task was completed, as well as a comprehensive summary of results including a final percentage result and the applicant’s percentile ranking compared to the global average.

This testing can either be offered as an additional charged service in the process of placing one of our candidates at your organisation, or as an entirely separate service unconnected with the placement of a candidate.

For a small fee per individual test, we would be delighted to assist you in ensuring that applicants for your vacancies have the necessary skill set to do the job.
