See below some interesting facts about our Director, Melissa Campbell.

Describe one experience that challenged you?

Having my daughter, Amelie. It was the most challenging moment of my life but also the most emotional and exciting.

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

Probably the old favourite “I Will Survive”, and I’d also like to try “Finally” by Cece Peniston – I love that song.

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?

A knife, soap and sweets.

Is your glass half full or half empty?

Definitely half full.

If you could have a drink with someone from history who would it be?

Probably a significant female figure like Margaret Thatcher.

If you weren’t working in the job you have now, what would you do?

My pipe dream job would be a singer in a beach bar somewhere exotic! But back to real life, I do love the job I have now.

If you could change something in the world, what would it be?

Poverty. If only everyone in the world could enjoy the standard of life that most of us in Guernsey enjoy.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?

My mum always says: “Manners Maketh Man” and I’ve never forgotten that. If you’re polite and pleasant to people and remember your manners, hopefully, they’ll be the same back. My husband and I are constantly reminding our daughter to say please and thank you and I’m glad to say that she usually remembers.

What is your favourite family tradition?

When my siblings and I were of school age and we passed a test, exam or achieved something special, we used to stand on our chair at dinner time to tell the whole family about it as we were so proud, and everyone would clap and cheer. I love that. Quite a few years later when my mum returned to office work in her fifties and she secured a permanent secretarial job, she stood on the chair to tell us that she’d got the job and we were all so happy for her. I’d like to keep that little tradition going with my own family.
